Shaw University is one step closer to redeveloping its campus after the Raleigh Planning Commission voted late last month in favor of a rezoning request it submitted.

RALEIGH, N.C. – In February 2023, Shaw University received a $5 million financial assistance award from the National Telecommunications & Information Administration’s (NTIA) National Institute of Standards and Technology fund for its Building Bridges to CODE (Cyber Operations & Digital Equity) program.

Shaw University received a $538,200 grant award to help preserve Estey Hall and to repair the roof of the 150-year-old building, which houses administrative offices for the university.

In homage to the rich history of Shaw University, more than $2 million has been secured to preserve several historic buildings and structures on campus (i.e., Estey, Tupper, Tyler, and Leonard Halls), which represent iconic cornerstones of the campus and its contributions to the community.
