Wells Fargo has awarded the School of Business and Professional Studies a $25,000 grant to support the launch of the Aspire Entrepreneurship Certification Program. Created by Shaw University exclusively for aspiring and early-stage entrepreneurs, the 16-week program commences this month with the first cohort of 12 participants.
Our successful Shaw alumni have returned to the business classroom to facilitate a course that they created to assist men of color in generating a blueprint to better understand their sense of self, develop their grit and overcome stereotype threats. Entitled Building African American Males (BAAM), the class fosters the development of professional skills for the global workplace.

Each year Shaw University celebrates the academic and scholastic successes of our students. The students we honor embody our university’s mission to advance knowledge. We are not only celebrating these students for the fruits of their academic achievements but also for their hard work outside of the classroom through athletics, clubs, internships and service. We are extraordinarily proud of these students for their unwavering commitment to their education.
As the 18th President of this venerable institution, I share your pride in Shaw’s traditions of excellence, and in the resilience that has enabled the University to fulfill its purpose since its inception. I believe in the future of Shaw, and this 2018-2019 President’s Report provides ample evidence for my optimism.
