We congratulate Shaw University Board of Trustees member and alumnus Sean Woodroffe for being named to the boardiQ African American Hall of Fame

Sean Woodroffe is the Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at TIAA. He is responsible for TIAA’s human resources strategy and execution for the organization’s global workforce, including compensation and benefits, talent acquisition, organizational design and effectiveness, and inclusion and diversity. He also oversees the organization’s internal communications strategy, which focuses on driving the alignment and engagement of approximately 16,500 employees.
Previously, he held the Chief People Officer position at National Life Group. Prior to that, Sean served as the U.S. Head of HR and Associate Communications at Sun Life Financial U.S., and also held senior executive HR roles at Financial Guaranty Insurance Company and the United Bank for Africa. He started his career and spent over 18 years at Merrill Lynch & Co., where he last served as First Vice President and Head of International HR based in London. Sean also led HR for Merrill Lynch’s Japan Wealth Management business unit based in Tokyo.

Previous experience includes five years at Bank of America as the Middle Office Manager for the Trade Capture team in Corporate Treasury, five years at First Union as the Equity Derivatives Trade Support Manager, and three years at Merrill Lynch in Global Operations Services.
