ETTRICK, Va. (April 22) – The Shaw women's tennis team capped a marvelous conference season by winning its fifth straight CIAA championship on Saturday morning at the VSU Tennis Complex.

The Lady Bears toppled Johnson C. Smith 4-0 in the finals for their 12th title overall under legendary Head Coach Sunday Enitan. By winning the conference title, the Lady Bears automatically qualify for the NCAA Division II regionals.

Shaw completed an unbeaten run against CIAA opponents this season. They did not allow a team point in conference competition.

Shaw (14-4 overall) was especially dominant this weekend, winning three matches in two days by 4-0 scores. In the finals match, the trio of Dana Moreno (6-1, 6-2), Anja Antonijevic (6-1, 6-1) and Hafsa Sanhaji (6-0, 6-0) each claimed singles victories. The tandems of Antonijevic/Sevval Ozseker and Jessa Michieli/Hafsa Sanhaji each won 6-0 for the doubles point.

The CIAA title is the biggest of several awards the Lady Bears received this weekend. Antonijevic and Enitan were named conference Player and Coach of the Year, respectively, and five Lady Bears were placed on the All-CIAA team. The CIAA also honored the Lady Bears for winning the Southern Division championship title.
