
The Shaw University community mourns the passing of alumnus C.T. Martin. Mr. Martin passed on Saturday, May 8, 2021, surrounded by his family and in his home.
He served as the Atlanta councilman representing District 10 on the Westside for nearly three decades. In his service, he became a powerful force for civil rights advocacy, an ardent supporter of education, and a champion for minority-owned businesses.
Martin graduated from Shaw University in 1974, receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in Behavioral Science. “Shaw University is proud of the accomplishments of Mr. Martin,” stated Dr. Paulette Dillard, President & CEO of Shaw University. “His iconic stature as a political leader in Atlanta is a testament to the lives he affected as a public servant.”
