Shaw University is pleased to announce the City of Raleigh Planning Commission approved its rezoning request. We are grateful to all the members of the Shaw Family who supported this effort and hope that you will continue to show your support as we head next to the Raleigh City Council on April 4th at 7:00 p.m. In case you missed it, you can view the Feb. 28 Raleigh Planning Commission meeting and vote.
An important part of the rezoning process is actively seeking and receiving input from the many stakeholders concerning our application. In response to the feedback received, Shaw has updated its rezoning application to make the following modifications:

Limit uses on the Shaw property to restrict any bars, taverns, nightclubs or lounges, light manufacturing, brewery, self-storage, vehicle sales and repair.

Prior to any construction within 100 feet of Estey, Tupper, Leonard and Tyler Halls, vibration-sensitive equipment shall be installed to monitor vibrations during construction until the ground floor slab has been installed.

Lowering the maximum building heights to 30 stories and 20 stories on various parcels.

Stepping down the building heights closest to the residential neighborhood on the south side of MLK, Jr. Blvd.
Shaw intends to hold an additional webinar to answer additional questions it has not previously addressed or any new questions that have arisen in the meantime.
